The other night I realized too late in the evening that I didn't have any tights to wear to work with my outfit the next day. Everything was closed except WalMart, and I figured it was worth a try to see if they had any. My daughter needed tights, too, since she had grown out of most from last year.
So, off I went in the wee hours to look for tights. I was extremely disappointed that there were not any tights in the color I needed! I walked to the girls' department contemplating my options for the next day, when it occurred to me that my daughter is not much smaller than I am these days.
I bought her the white tights she needed, and decided to try a pair for myself, too. I bought the 12-16 size (my daughter wears about a 14, and I figured that if they didn't work for me, she could wear them).
Friends, I'm hooked! The tights were absolutely fine under my lovely wool skirt, and they cost $1.67!!
If my growing daughter weren't approaching my size, I never would have thought of it. But it worked!

I made a menu for the week and did the shopping today. I used more coupons that usual and saved about 10%, although I did get a few items that I don't normally buy. I tried to look at those items at the discounted price to decide if they were worth purchasing. Other items, such as some candy ($1.50 off of $7.50 worth) I have stashed for stocking stuffers. For example, I don't normally buy chips. But with a sale and coupon, I was able to buy a 11 oz bag of Sunchips for $1.05. For that price, it will be a treat for the kids that I can live with.

I'm making flannel pajama pants for the family for Christmas. I made several trips to the fabric store to maximize my coupon usage and sales. I finally got the last piece of fabric today, so I'm excited to get sewing. There were some really cute prints. I found some that were even teenage boy appropriate, which is often hard to do.
Have a great start to the week, everyone!

I am seriously thinking of getting a sewing machine. The pajama pants sound like a fun, money saving project.
Way to go on the coupon savings.
